Afghanistan’s border with Iran reopened: NSC

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon reopened its border with Iran on Tuesday, the day seven more suspected coronavirus cases emerged in western Herat province.

The border was shut on Monday over fears of spread of coronavirus, an illness that has caused a dozen fatalities in Iran, where another 61 infection cases have also been reported.

A committee tasked with containing coronavirus spread had decided measures should be taken on the border to allow passenger movement.

A statement from the National Security Council (NSC) said suspected passengers coming from coronavirus hotspots should immediately be quarantined.

The first case of coronavirus was detected in Afghanistan on Monday when a man returning from Iran was found with the disease.

Meanwhile, Public Healthinfo-icon Minister Ferozuddin Feroz said seven more suspected cases of coronavirus were reported in Herat.
