Fuel rates down by 8.6pc, gold by 6.6pc in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel have edged down by 8.6 percent and gold by 6.6 percent while food items’ rates remain unchanged during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market source said Saturday.

The rates of essential food items remain unchanged compared to the rates of last Saturday, but the prices had suddenly jumped on last Sunday and Monday following the closure of Pakistaninfo-icon-Afghanistaninfo-icon borders.

According to Pajhwok Afghan News reports, the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of flour was increased from 1,550 Afghanis to 2,500 Afghanis, a tin of ghee from 1,200afs to 1,900afs but the rates downed again after government’s interference and imports of huge amount of flour and ghee from Kazakhstan.

Haji Nangyali Mohammadi, a wholesaler in Kabul Mandavi Market, told Pajhwok that the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour was 1,600afs, 49kg of Pakistani flour 2,050afs, a tin of 16 liters of Khurshid ghee 1,200afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,200afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 300afs and the same quantity of African black tea 320afs.

Ahmad Mustafa, who owns a grocery store in Taimani area of Kabul, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,650afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 2,150afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 2,500afs, a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,300afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 320afs and the same amount of black African tea for 360afs—higher than wholesale rates.

Fuel prices edged down.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul said that he price of one liter of petrol was decreased from 46afs to 44afs and the same quantity of diesel also decreased from 46afs to 44afs.

Ahmad Javid, a liquefied gas seller in Taimani area of Kabul said that the price of a kilogram of the commodity was 55afs, the same rate of last week’s.

The rates of gold also decreased.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area of Kabul, said tha the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 3,300afs to 3,050afs and the same quantity of Russian variety from 2,700afs to 2,550afs.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said that one US dollar was accounted for 76.26afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 475afs against last week’s 76afs and 481afs.
