KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The European Union and Norway have voiced their concerns at the current political impasse in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

“We emphasised that a solution to the political stalemate must be found without delay between all parties involved,” the EU said on Saturday.

The ambassadors of EU states and Norway expressed their concerns after they met President Ashraf Ghani at his invitation on Friday.

“We underlined the strong support provided by the EU and Norway to the institutions of Afghanistan and our commitment to contribute to improving the wellbeing of the people of Afghanistan,” they said in a statement.

The EU has been providing Afghanistan significant development assistance besides playing a major role in promoting the peace process.

The diplomats also conveyed Ghani their worries over the recent spike in violence and the imminent threat posed by the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

“The new circumstances created by the Covid-19 pandemic make resolving the situation an even more urgent obligation,” the statement added.
