COVID-19: Worldwide death toll climbs to 31,000

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The global death toll from the coronavirus has soared to 31,000, with the number of infections standing at more than 600,000.

The deadly virus, which originated three months ago in China’s Wuhan city, has spread to nearly 200 countries around the globe.

According to international media reports, at least 660,000 people have been infected and around 31,000 others killed by the pandemic.

About 140,000 patients have recovered and returned to normal life. At least, 3,200 people have died in China, more than 10,000 in Italy and 2,200 in the US.

A day earlier, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said six new coronavirus cases had emerged in Herat and one in northern Sar-i-Pul, taking Afghanistan’s tally to 117.

Three people have lost their lives to COVID-19 while five patients have recuperated in Afghanistaninfo-icon so far.
