New hospital opens on Torkham-Jalalabad road

JALALABD CITY (Pajhwok): A newly-built hospital costing 20 million afghanis was inaugurated in Momandara district of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor's spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clinic’ inaugurated ceremony was attended by Governor Shah Mehmood Miakhel and a number of government officials in the area.

He said construction work of the hospital, funded by the Ministry of Public Healthinfo-icon (MoPH), took a year to finish at a cost of 20 million afghanis.

He said facilities in the clinic included a six-kilowatt solar power system, medical equipment, 18 rooms, surrounding walls and bathrooms.

Dr. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, Public Health Director, told the ceremony that the newly constructed hospital would provide healthcare services to people of the district and victims of accidents on the Torkham-Jalalabad highway.

He said another healthcare center would be soon put into service in Gurguri area of Durbaba district of the province.
