India agree evacuation of stranded Afghans

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Permission for more flights to bring back stranded Afghans from Indian has been sought, Afghan embassy in New Delhi said on Wednesday.

Tariq Qaderi, Afghan deputy ambassador to India, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Foreign Ministry and the embassy had briefly discussed the issue with Indian officials.

He said all people in India have been quarantined and no one was allowed to go aboard from home.

 He said the government of India agreed to take home all Afghans stranded there. The Afghan citizens would be flown home on five Kam Air flights.

He said around 1,000 Afghans would be transfer in three flight today.

Qaderi said talks have been underway with Indian officials for getting permission for further flights to bring the rest Afghans stranded in the country.

Qadari thanked the cooperation of Indian government in this regard so far.
