PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered a relief package for the Afghan refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) amid coronavirus concerns.

Khan issued the directives in response to a request from Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Sheharyar Afridi during a meeting of the federal cabinet.

The relevant authorities were asked to allocate funds for the IDPs and refugees from the Rs200 billion earmarked for poor farmers.

After the meeting, SAFRON Minister Afridi told reporters that around 2.8 million refugees were living in 52 camps across the country. He said 80 per cent were daily-wage workers.
