7 Taliban killed, 9 wounded in Ghazni clashes

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces killed seven Talibaninfo-icon militants and injured another nine during clashes in southern Ghazni province, an official said Saturday.

Samir Ahmad Ahmadi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Taliban militants stormed security check-posts in Shahbaz area of Ghazni City, the provincial capital and Liwan area of Andar district late Friday night.

He said seven Taliban militants were killed and another nine wounded in the nighttime firefight. He said security forces and civilians suffered no causalities in the clash.

However, Abdullah, a resident of Shahbaz area, told Pajhwok that two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were wounded in the clash.

Elsewhere, one policeman was killed and another was in a roadside bomb blast in Qala-i-Jwaz area of the provincial capital.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed their fighters inflicted heavy causalities on government forces in the nighttime clash in Andar district.
