KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Healthinfo-icon (MoPH) on Saturday recommended further restrictions on people’s movement and lockdown rules in capital Kabul to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Wahidullah Mayar, MoPH spokesman, told a press conference here that the number of positive COVID-19 cases were increasing each day, thus people should practice their guidelines seriously.

He said restrictions already in place in Kabul could not be effective if further curbs were not announced.

He said people were seriously following MoPH guideless in western Herat province where positive COVID-cases decreased recently.

He said, “If people do not take COVID-19 serious in Kabul, the virus will spread.”

Kabul governor and mayor, who were present at the press conference, warned people of using force if people did not follow PoPH guidelines.

Afghanistan’s tally of coronavirus surged to 299 after 18 new positive cases emerged in various parts of the country’s particularly in the nation’s capital Kabul.

Seven people infected with corona have so far lost their lives.
