COVID-19: Worldwide death toll climbs to 70,000

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The global death toll from the coronavirus has soared to 70,000, with the number of infections standing at more than 1000,000.

The deadly virus, which originated almost four months ago in China’s Wuhan city, has spread to nearly 200 countries around the globe.

According to international media reports, 1020,000 people have been infected and around 70,000 others killed by the pandemic.

About 270,000 patients have recovered and returned to normal life. At least, 3,400 people have died in China, more than 16,000 in Italy and 9,600 in the US.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Public Healthinfo-icon (PoPH) said 30 new cases of COVID-19 had been registered in Afghanistaninfo-icon, taking the nation’s tally to 367.
