Afghanistan’s tally of Covid-19 cases hits 444

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s coronavirus tally has risen to 444 with the emergence of 21 new cases in various parts of the country, particularly in capital Kabul, an official said on Tuesday.

Dr. Wahidullah Mayar, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), told Pajhwok Afghan News the new cases were registered in Kabul, Ghazni, Baghlan, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Helmand and Takhar provinces.

He said 12 positive cases were reported in Kabul, three in Ghazni, two in Baghlan and one each in Logar, Maidan Wardak, Helmand and Takhar provinces. The number of coronavirus patients in the country reached 444.

Mayar said 15 individuals have so far lost their lives to COVID-19 while 31Afghans have recovered from the pandemic.

The global death toll has soared to 70,000, with the number of infections standing at more than 1000,000.

According to international media reports, 1020,000 people have been infected and 70,000 others killed by the pandemic.
