KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): NATOinfo-icon has provided face masks, gloves and protective equipment to the Afghan security forces to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The Resolute Support recently facilitated the delivery of supplies to Afghan police units in Panjsher and Parwan provinces, a statement from the alliance said on Monday.

It added the supplies included 7,000 masks, more than 8,000 pairs of gloves, cleaning supplies and other personal protective equipment.

In Helmand and Nimroz provinces, Resolute Support helped deliver critical supplies to Afghan army units, including 13,000 masks and 1,000 sets of protective gear, plus disinfectants, sanitisers and cleaning supplies.

In Nuristan, the mission aided the delivery of critical supplies to police, including medical equipment and cleaning materials, sanitisers and personal protective equipment.

The NATO-led mission is mandated to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces. It was launched on January 1, 2015, replacing the International Security Assistance Force.

“NATO remains firmly committed to support our Afghan partners as they fight terrorism and operate to create the conditions for lasting peace, in the midst of an unprecedented healthinfo-icon crisis.”
