KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Chief US diplomat for South Asian affairs Alice Wells on Tuesday strongly condemned destruction of power supply line to capital Kabul.

Alice Wells wrote, “Afghans face enough challenges from COVID-19 while armed militants destroying transmission towers and disrupting electricity to hospitals and homes in Kabul. I strongly condemn recent attacks on infrastructure in Afghanistaninfo-icon. Afghans must come together to fight COVID-19.”

Earlier a day, power utility Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) sought five more days to fully repair the 100 megawatt electricity line which was blown up Sunday night.

Wahidullah Tawhidi, DABS spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the power transmission towers were blown up in Mirzakhel area of Mir BachaKot district of Kabul late Sunday night.

The destroyed transmission towers supply electricity to capital Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, Logar and Paktia provinces.

Tawhidi said full repair of the broken towers required 23 million afghanis and five days to be completed. He said three teams were currently busy in the area.
