ICC T20 rankings: Afghanistan slip to 10th spot

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon have fallen to 10th the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Twenty20 rankings,

Afghanistan’s two-slot decline in the fresh rankings, which were released on Friday, saw Bangladesh moving up to 8th place.

As a result of the annual ranking update, West Indies retained the 9th place -- ahead of Afghanistan, said the game’s global regulator.

At the top of the T20 table, Australia replaced Pakistaninfo-icon, which had attained the number one position in January 2018 after defeating New Zealand..

Pakistan lost 10 points slipping to 260 and was placed after Australia (278), England (268) and India (266), according to the new ICC rankings.

India also lost its number one rank in Test matches to Australia, sliding to third place after having occupied the top spot since October 2016.

There is a narrow difference of only one point between New Zealand -- now placed second at 115 points -- versus Australia's 116, while India is placed third with 114 points.

The ICC rankings for one-day internationals (ODIs) remained unchanged even with changes in points. England (127) maintained its top ranking.

India is placed second with 119 points while New Zealand retained the third position with 116 points. Pakistan is placed sixth in ODI rankings with 102 points.
