KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Nearly 600 Afghan prisoners would be brought to Kabul from jails in Saudi Arabia, the Afghan envoy to the kingdom said on Monday.

Ahmad Javed Mujaddedi told Pajhwok Afghan News in an interview that the Saudi government had decided to deport 599 Afghan prisoners.

He said the process of shifting these prisoners had to start earlier but was delayed due to Covid-19 and quarantine measures.

Mujaddedi said the prisoners would be transferred by the Saudi government on three separate flights.

He said they had talked with Aryana and KamAir airlines about stranded Afghan passengers in the kingdom and measures had been taken in this regard.

He said due to employment and Covid-19, the Aryana Afghan airlines had promised to offer low price ticket for the stranded Afghans.

He said the Afghan mission in Saudi had taken permission from the Saudi government for Aryana firm to bring the stranded Afghans on nine flights.

An Afghan trader Haji Wardak Shirzad based in Alqassim city told Pajhwok that the Afghans had been sentenced on different crimes including one murder of another Afghan. He said these Afghans were also accused of lacking visa and stealing.
