Khost: 20 crime suspects arrested in a week

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Twenty people have been arrested over links with Talibaninfo-icon militants, planting bombs and spying in the past one week in southeastern Khost province, an official said Tuesday.

Deputy Governor Abdul Wahid Patan told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees included nine persons accused of planting landmines.

He said the arrested men also included six Haqqani networkinfo-icon members, two target killers and as many spies for foreign countries.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.

According to another report, three policemen were wounded in a bomb blast in Khost city, the provincial capital, today (Tuesday).

Police spokesman Adil Haidar told Pajhwok the blast took place west of the provincial capital near the technical institute at around 2:00pm.

He said the bomb had been planted on the side of a road in the area.
