12 tribal elders injured in Nangarhar grebade attack

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 12 tribal elders and youth have been wounded in a hand grenade attack on a jirgainfo-icon in eastern Nangarhar province, an official on Wednesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News unknown individuals hurled the hand grenade at a meeting of tribal elders in the Chaknawar area of Lalpura district on Tuesday night.

He said at least 12 participants of the jirga, including elderly men and youth, were wounded in the explosion and evacuated to hospital.

Meanwhile, Shah Mahmood, a resident of the area, said most of the injured were elderly people. There has been no claim of responsibility so far for the attack.
