TIRINKOT (Pajhwok):  The governor on Thursday inaugurated construction work on nearly 60 small cold storages for preservation of agricultural products in this capital city of central Uruzgan province.

Being constructed by the Ministry of Agricultureinfo-icon, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), the cold storages would enable farmers to preserve their produce for proper time to increase their income, said Governor Asadullah Saeed, who launched the project.

The governor said all major transport routes remained closed due to coronavirus outbreak and the cold storages would keep agricultural goods from decaying for supply to the market when needed.

Uruzgan agriculture director Ahad Shah Kheri said all the 59 small cold storages would cost 24 million afghanis to be provided by the Ministry of Finance.
