Over 300 Afghans stranded in Qatar return home today

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): More than 300 Afghans who have been stranded in Qatar arrive in Kabul on a special flight today (Saturday), the Afghan ambassador in Doha says.

Abdul Hakim Dalili told Pajhwok Afghan News due to the spread of Covid-19 and lack of flights, 314 Afghans were stranded in Qatar.

He explained most of the stranded Afghans were students and some families. They are set to return to Kabul today.

The diplomat added he had earlier shared the issue with Qatari officials. As a result, a special flight was arranged to fly the stranded Afghans back home free of cost.

Dalili said they had also received assistance from Qatar, which would be brought home on the same flight. He has been assured by Qatari officials of further aid for battling the Covid-19 pandemic in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

A week back, he recalled, five Afghans had been infected with Covid-19 and their health condition was stable.
