GARDEZ (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib on Wednesday said that Talibaninfo-icon had intensified their armed struggles by changing tactic to target killings on the eve of summer season.

The high-rank official expressed the view during meetings with residents and military officials in southeastern Paktia province.

In the military session, Mohib met with governor, military commander for 203rd Thunder Military Corps, commanders of border and national police, intelligence director and other officials.

Security situation, peace process, appointment of Paktia youth and implementation of some huge projects were discussed during the meetings.

The NSA said that the Taliban had intensified conflict by changing their tactic to target killings as the weather was getting warm

Mohib stressed the need for further reinforcement of security forces and said the government had determined the shortages of security organs in battle field and they would be fulfilled soon.

Mohib told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Unfortunately, no attention has been paid to Paktia in the past and the province need more work. People of this province have supported the government in difficult situation and we are thankful to them and fundamental projects should be established here.”

Residents of Paktia emphasized on urban development, implementation of development projects, appointment of Paktia youth in different posts and participation in peace process and called on government leaders to fulfill their promises.

They warned of staging huge protests if the promises had not fulfilled.

Mohib assured Paktia residents for paying serious attention to their demands and would pave the way for a meeting with President Ahsraf Ghani in near future.
