KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Eid-ul-Fitr ceasefire continues despite the expiry of its deadline and some Talibaninfo-icon attack, an official said on Friday.

National Security Council Spokesperson Javid Faisal said in order to prevent future attacks there was need for greater coordination and cooperation.

Faisal said efforts for long-term ceasefire was underway. “The ceasefire started in Eid-ul-Fitr was underway with some scattered attacks after its actual deadline ended,” said Faisal.

Some attacks had been recorded in Farah, Zabul and Parwan provinces. Last night the Taliban stormed security forces check-point in Paktia province killing 14 security personnel.

Taliban Spokesperson Zabihulllah Mujahid on his twitter page wrote that one day after the end of ceasefire deadline the group staged no attack.
