Coronavirus: Global death toll surpasses 364,000

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): More than 364,000 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus pandemic around the globe, show latest figures from a US university.

John Hopkins University’s tally indicates over 2,493,000 individuals have recovered from the disease, which has affected at least 5,924,000 people so far.

On Friday, President Donald Trump said he is breaking off America’s ties with the Worldinfo-icon Healthinfo-icon Organisation (WHO).

He told journalists the organisation had failed to do enough to combat the initial spread of the coronavirus.

In Britain, over 38,000 people have died from the coronavirus after another 324 deaths were recorded in the latest daily figures on Friday.

The health ministry in Paris said the number of fatalities had increased by 52 -- or 0.2 per cent -- to 28,714, the fourth-highest tally in the world.
