KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon on Saturday released 73 government prisoners in Paktia, Khost and Paktika provinces.

The Taliban’s Qatar Office Spokesperson Suhail Shaheen in his twitter account wrote: “Today, 73 soldiers of the Kabul Administration were released from prisons of the Islamic Emirate in Balkh, Kunduz, Logar,Paktia, Khost and Paktika provinces. They were sent to their families after giving them new clothes and Afs 5,000 for transportation fare.”

He added: “This brings the total number of Kabul Administration’s soldiers so far released to 420 prisoners.”

This comes that the Afghan government has freed nearly 2,000 prisoners.

US and Afghan government inked Peace Agreement on February 29th this year and both sides pledged to release 6,000 prisoners.

The prisoners release process suffered a setback before Eid when Afghan government stopped the process, but things changed after the Taliban announced a three-day ceasefire during Eid-ul-Fitr.
