Talks with Taliban to begin in 2 weeks: Abdullah

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): High Council for National Reconciliation chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah says  intra-Afghan talks would begin in coming two weeks, but the venue and exact time for the much-awaited talks are yet to be determined.

Abdullah held a meeting with members of the negotiating team in the Sapedar Palace before noon Saturday, a statement issued here on Saturday said.

During the meeting, Abdullah expressed satisfaction with resolution to the political crisis and said Afghanistaninfo-icon had reached a common vision in determining the negotiating board, roadmap for negotiations and their commencement.

He hoped the peace talks with the Talibaninfo-icon would begin in two weeks, but place and time for these negotiations remained unknown.

He said the Afghan negotiating team would enter peace talks with an organized approach and one idea. They will defend recent achievements, national and Islamic values, the former CEO said.

Dr. Enayatullah Babar Farahmand and Asadullah Saadati, deputy heads of the Reconciliation Council, pledged to do everything they could for peace and reconciliation in the country.

Masoum Stanikzai, head of the negotiating team, provided brief information to the council regarding their preparations for talks with the Taliban.
