Afghanistan’s coronavirus tally hits 15,750

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon’s positive coronavirus cases continued to surge as 545 new cases were confirmed nationwide in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said Monday.

The new cases were confirmed among 1,168 suspected patients during this period in 18 provinces, pushing the nationwide tally to 15,750, said MoPH.

The ministry also announced that eight people died, and 100 patients recovered in the past 24 hours. The virus has so far killed 265 people and 1,428 have recovered as of Monday.  

The virus infected 117 people in Herat, 92 in Paktia, 66 in Kabulinfo-icon and 50 in Nangarhar province during the past 24 hours.

The ministry said  48 people in Samangan, 36 in Farah, 22 in Sar-e-Pul and 20 in Bamyan, 17 people in Logar, 14-14 each in Ghorinfo-icon, Badakhshan and Panjshir provinces, 12 each in Maidan Wardak and Faryab, 4 in Balkh, 3 in Kunar, 2-2 each in Laghman and Badghis provinces contracted the disease in the past 24 hours.
