KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Foreign flights to Afghanistaninfo-icon would resume in near future under ‘special healthcare conditions’ and by observing all necessary medical steps, an official said Monday.

Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) head Dr. Mohammad Qasim Wafaezadah said this while introducing Amanzib Ansari as ACAA planning and policy deputy director and Gen. Syed Saboor as new chief of the Hamid Karzai International Airport at a ceremony here.

He called standardization of ACAA services a key issue, which could be not resolved until the blacklist and certification  issues were resolved with the Europe Union (EU).

He said if the Hamid Karzai airport’s certification issue was not addressed till 2020 end, international flights would be limited from the airport fro, the current 70 flights.

Wafaezadah called on all ACAA workers to have good cooperation with the newly appointed chief and urged Sayed Saboor to bring deep and further reforms to the Hamid Karzai International Airport in near future.

He said the Covid-19 pandemic had also a negative impact on their income as ACAA revenue decreased by around $40 million since the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

He said international flights would resume soon resumed under special conditions and by considering prevention of Covid-19 spread.
