AIBAK (Pajhwok): About 1,000 needy and affected families by coronavirus related curfews would receive six million afghanis in assistance from the Worldinfo-icon Food Programme in northern Samangan province, an official said Tuesday.

Natural Disaster Management Department head Sibghatullah Sias said the cash aid distribution kicked off today and would be completed in 40 days.

He said 1,000 needy and deserving families had been identified by the provincial Commission Combating Coronavirus.

Shah Mohammad, a resident of Aibak, who received the aid (6,000 afghanis), said: “I own a handcart to sell onions and potatoes in the city, there was a 20-day curfew during Ramadaninfo-icon and I lost income during the curfew. This 6,000 afghanis will solve our problems for a month.”

Dr. Abdul Khalil Mosadiq, public healthinfo-icon director, said at least 264 positive cases of coronavirus had been registered in the province, with 10 individuals recovering and two dying.
