KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): More than 6.4 million people have been infected with the coronavirus globally while three million have recovered from the pandemic so far, media reports said on Wednesday.

After emerging in the Wuhan city of China last December, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread to at least 200 countries and regions, affecting millions of individuals.

Statistics show around 6.4 million people have been infected with the virus worldwide. About 382,000 have died from the disease -- most of them in Europe and the US.

Data from the Johns Hopkins University in the United States indicate three million people have recovered from the coronavirus and returned to normal life.

Media reports say one million and 880,000 individuals have contracted the virus in the US, where over 100,008 have been killed as of Wednesday morning.

Spain, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Turkey and India are among the countries where many people have been affected by the pandemic.

The virus is spreading rapidly in Afghanistan as well, with 16,509 people infected so far. The death toll in the country, the Ministry of Public Healthinfo-icon (MoPH) says, stands at 270 and recoveries at 1,450.
