Kabul, Tehran talk Afghan truce, peace negotiations

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Kabul and Tehran on Wednesday discussed bilateral cooperation and ongoing efforts for a ceasefire and lasting peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

High Council for National Reconciliation Chairman Dr. Abdullah and Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan Bahador Aminian also exchanged views on intra-Afghan negotiations.

Abdullah’s office said the two sides also conferred on issues of mutual interest, including prisoner swaps, and further expansion of bilateral relations.

The meeting comes days after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani phoned his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani and said Tehran would stand by the people and government of Afghanistan for the country's development, peace and security.
