Kunduz police chief, district head die from coronavirus

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The police chief for northern Kunduz province and the administrative for Qala-i-Zal district have died from the coronavirus, an official said on Wednesday.

Esmatullah Muradi, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Brig. Gen. Abdul Rasheed Bashir had tested positive for Covid-19 before Eid-ul-Fitr.

The provincial police chief lost his life to the pandemic at a hospital in Kabulinfo-icon, the gubernatorial spokesman said

Muradi said that Fahim Qarloq administrative chief for Qala-i-Zal district also lost his live due to coronavirus pandemic, which is rapidly spreading in Afghanistaninfo-icon and the region at large.

Marwa Amini, deputy spokesperson for the police headquarters, confirmed Rasheed Bashir’s hospitalisation in Kabul. She, however, linked the police chief’s death to respiratory issues.

Zabihullah Mujaddedi, director of the Covid-19 Hospital in Kunduz, confirmed the death of the administrative chief for Qala-i-Zal district due to the virus.
