Jun 04, 2020 - 19:10

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok):  Referring to deteriorated economic condition as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, some teachers of private schools in capital Kabul appealed for government support and warned of protest if their appeal was ignored.

Masouma Nazari, one of private school teachers, said most of private schools teachers were facing harsh economic conditions.

“Most of the teacher dealt with their economic situation one way or there other until now by getting loans from shopkeepers and other people, but people stopped helping teachers as the situation worsened”

She asked the government to allocate special fund to support teachers of private schools.

She said from the past six months private schools teachers did not get salary. “We regularly paid tax from our salary and now like public school teachers, private school teachers should be supported in difficult hour.”

Mohammad Younis Sharq, another teacher of private school, held similar views and said: “If the private schools teachers are not supported most of them would be faced with grim economic situation.”

He also demanded that private school teachers shall be treated like public school teachers.

They stressed that the government shall respond to their demand in positive manner.
