30 Baghlan hospital workers contract Covid-19

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Thirty workers at the provincial civil hospital of northern Baghlan province have been infected with Covid-19 pandemic, an official said on Wednesday.

At least 684 new positive COVID-19 cases surfaced in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday.

Dr. Ahmad Jawad Usmani, acting Minister of Public health, told a press conference here, that a total of 1,128 individuals underwent tests during the period, with 684 testing positive for Covid-19 that pushed the nation’s tally to 22, 143,

At least 21 people lost their lives to COVID-19, and 324 others recovered in the past 24 hours. As many as 405 Afghans have died from the pandemic while 2,975 recovered so far.

In Baghlan, Dr. Habibullah Mohib, Public Health Hospital Director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Covid-19 pandemic had spread in the entire province.

He said a majority of people in the province had contracted the virus and the number of patients was on the increase.

Of 200 health workers, 30 have been infected with the Covid-19 in Baghlan province, he said, blaming the situation on people’s carelessness.

He warned if the situation continued, a large number of positive cases would emerge in the province.
