Afghani depreciates against dollar, gold price up in Kabul markets

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of cooking oil and gold have gone up while Afghani depreciated against dollar on Saturday compared to last week prices in Kabul markets.

According to the Money Exchanger Union in Sara-i-Shahzada market in Kabul today (Saturday) the purchase value of one US dollar was 77.45 afghanis while 1,000 Pakistani rupees were accounted for 472 afghanis.

Last week the purchase value of one US dollar was accounted for 77,10 afghanis while 1,000 Pakistani rupees were exchanged for 474 afghanis.

Tawab Ghaznavi, a food store owner in the Kabul Madavi Market, said the price of 16-litre Sediq Cooking Oil surged from 1,600 to 1,700 afghanis.

He said increase in the price of cooking oil was due to high prices of cooking oil in the global market.

 He said the prices other commodities remained steady as 49 kilograms of Kazakhi flour accounted for 1,800 afs, 24-kilogram bag of Pakistani rice 2,200 afs, 50-kilogram bag of sugar 2,300 afs, one kilogram of Indonesian green tea 320afs and the same amount of African black tea 350afs.

Mohammad Zaki, owner of a grocery store in Macro Ryan area, said the price 49 kilograms of Kazakhi flour was 1,850afs, 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar 2,380afs, and 24 kilograms of Pakistaninfo-icon rice 2,500afs, 16-litre ghee 1,900 afs, one kilogram Indonesian green tea 340afs and the same amount of African black tea 360afs.

Gold price increases this week

According to Online address “Gold and Exchange Rates”, one gram of Arabic gold increased from 3,200 to 3,300 afs and the same quantity of Russian variety surged from 2,550 to 2600 afs.

Surge in the price of gold in Kabul Markets is linked with surge in the global gold prices.

Fuel price remained stable

According to Ahmadyar Group of Companies, the prices of fuel remained stable as one litre of petrol was sold for 35afs and the same quantity of diesel for 38afs.

Mohammad Zarif, a liquefied gas seller in Pul-i-Pach area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was 45afs -- same as last week.
