JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Justice Department for eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday said it was assessing activities of some civil societyinfo-icon and aid groups in light of complaints against them.

Masto Khan Helal, Nangarhar Justice Department head, told Pajhwok Afghan News during an interview that they had issued arrest warrants for two aid organs’ directors in the province.

He said they had issued permission letters to 287 associations to operate in social and civil affairs in districts, villages and in police districts.

“We have received complaints against Abdul Basir Pacha and Hazrat Omar, two heads for aid associations, thus arrest warrants were issued for them.”

The official said some overseas Afghans had complained about the two men that they did not distribute the assistance in a right way.

Helal said efforts were underway to act on such complaints and stop illegal acts

About land grabbing in the province, Helal said they had discussed 302 cases of land grabbing and more than 250 acres of government land was recognized and returned to the government.
