KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The venue for the Afghanistaninfo-icon-Bangladesh soccer match may be changed, a Dhaka-based newspaper reported on Sunday.

As part of the Worldinfo-icon Cup 2022 and the Asia Cup joint qualifying round, the two sides were to play one encounter at Sylhet Stadium.

The Independent quoted Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) General Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag as saying the venue might be changed.

It was uncertain as to when the coronavirus situation would return normal, he said. “The COVID-19 situation has disrupted almost all of our plans.”

The BFF official recalled: “Actually, we had decided on March 26 to hold the match against Afghanistan in Sylhet following the earlier schedule.”

In September last year, Bangladesh lost their first match of the qualifying round to Afghanistan in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
