KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The foreign minister and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistaninfo-icon (UNAMA) chief have discussed talks between government and Talibaninfo-icon representatives.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in Thursday acting minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar met UNAMA head Deborah Lyons in Kabul.

Both sides discussed intra-Afghan talks which would be held in near future, recent developments in implementation of the Feb 29 peace pact and reduction in violence.

Support for the Afghan peace process, ceasefire, efforts for regional consensus, launch of unconditional intra-Afghan talks and prisoner releases were also part of the discussion.

Atmar praised efforts by the UN special representative for building regional consensus and success of the peace process. He hoped these efforts would lead to the early start of intra-Afghan talks.
