PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon has opened Torkham, Chaman and Ghulam Khan border crossings with Afghanistaninfo-icon for six days a week.

The opening of the border points will help boost the volume of bilateral trade and promote business activities between the neighbours.

A notification from the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad said the three border terminals would remain open for imports and exports between the two countries.

An unlimited number of trucks carrying both Afghan transit and bilateral trade goods would be allowed to cross the Durand Lineinfo-icon on a daily basis, the ministry added.

It promised ensuring the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This arrangement on trade will be in operation for six days a week. Saturdays will be reserved for pedestrian movement on these border crossing terminals,” the Foreign Office said.

“The opening of the Ghulam Khan border crossing terminal and allowing imports from Afghanistan reflects Pakistan’s resolve to help Afghanistan and facilitate its trade.

“Pakistan is a major trading partner of Afghanistan and largest market for Afghan exports,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
