Afghanistan’s Covid-19 cases, fatalities surge

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least 460 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 30,175.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said a total of 1,175 individuals underwent tests during the period and 460 of them were diagnosed with Covid-19.

Kabul recorded 166 new cases while southeastern Paktia province saw 69 infections. At least 59 cases were registered in Herat, 38 in Takhar, 29 in Daikundi, 25 in Kapisa and 24 in Kunduz.

The ministry added 19 coronavirus cases surfaced in Baghlan, 13 in Maidan Wardak, seven in Badakhshan, five in Nangarhar, three in Bamyan, two in Kunar and one each in Logar and Laghman.

At least 36 people lost their lives to the pandemic and 305 others recovered in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 675. At least 10,174 have recovered so far.
