Covid-19 infections in Afghanistan rise to 31,517

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least 279 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 31,517.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said a total of 769 individuals underwent testing during the period and 279 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Ghorinfo-icon recorded 68 new cases while Kabul saw 41 infections. At least 38 cases were registered in Herat, 35 in Bamyan, 18 in Paktia, 13 in Badghis and 11 each in Balkh and Kunduz.

Seven cases were reported each in Takhar and Kapisa, six in Logar, four in Kandahar, three each in Badakhshan , Panjsher and Uruzgan, two each in Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Kunar, Helmand and Zabul and one in Parwan.

A dozen people lost their lives to the pandemic and 197 others recovered from it in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 745. At least 14,036 have recovered so far.
