Herat police chief wounded in roadside bombing

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The police chief for western Herat province was wounded in a bomb blast in Pashton Zarghon district on Wednesday, an official said.

Omar Roshan, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Col. Ombaidullah Noorzai was injured after his vehicle hit a roadside bombing in the district at around 12:00pm today.

He said Noorzai was injured in the incident but his condition was said to be stable.

But Abdul Ahad Walizadah, Herat police spokesman, said the police chief escaped unhurt in the blast but three of his police guards were wounded.
