Some JIA members appoint Enayatullah Shadab to lead party

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Jamiat-e-Islami Afghanistaninfo-icon (JIA) has appointed Syed Enayathullah Shadab to lead the party until the convention of its grand meeting instead of incumbent head Salahuddin Rabbani.

After the killing of JIA previous leader Burhanuddin Rabbani, his son Salahuddin Rabbani was appointed as the party head.

JIA Executive Head Atta Mohammad Noor on his facebook page wrote: “During yesterday meeting in which key party members participated matters related to peace process, participation in the government and party affairs were discussed.”

“A Commission was tasked to finalize its preparation for the grand party meeting regarding the revival of the party,” he wrote.

The meeting also decided that JIA should play active role in the government and called for the creation of a senior members group who would engage with other veterans for close coordination.

The JIA senior members decided that instead of Salahuddin Rabbani another party veteran Ustad Enayatullah Shadab would lead the party until the convention of party grand meeting.

The party announced its support from peace process and demanded active role in the National Reconciliation Council.

Some sources within the party told Pajhwok Afghan News that JIA had been ignored in the peace talks and the party head Salahuddin Rabbani was opposed to the creation of Reconciliation Council thus the party members decided to replace him with Shadab.

According to sources within JIA leadership Council members established close contacts with First Vice President Amrullah Saleh and they believe that Saleh would be able to work for the party and defend Mujahidin and the party.

Pajhwok tried to establish contact with Salahuddin Rabbani but was not reached for comment.
