Senators unhappy over deteriorating security situation

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Some Meshrano Jirgainfo-icon members on Sunday expressed their concerns over growing incidents of insecurity in the country and said elements within the Talibaninfo-icon and government institutions should be identified who create hurdles in the way of peace process.

Nabia Mustafazada, a lawmaker from Jawzjan province, said: “The security situation deteriorate with each passing day, there is instability in the centre and districts. People are worried due to insecurity, targeted attacks, blasts and worsening economic condition.”

She demanded security bosses to be summoned to the house and added individuals in the government and on the Taliban side who oppose peace and create hurdles should be identified and stopped from anti-peace activities.

Gul Ahmad Azeemi, a lawmaker from Farah province, also criticized the current security situation and said the government held control over 10 Farah districts and Farah City, the provincial capital.

“Individuals who want to sabotage peace process should be stopped, otherwise peace will not be restored in the country,” he said.

Mohammad Hanif, a lawmaker from Uruzgan province, said some ciricles within the government and Taliban existed who wanted to create hurdles in the way of peace process.

Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar tasked the Internal Security Commission to summon security bosses for discussion on security situation.

He said government and the people of Afghanistaninfo-icon wanted peace but violence should decline and people on both side working against peace should be stopped from their designs.
