Pakistan reopens Kharlachi crossing point

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon has reopened a  crossing point in Kurram tribal district for trade with neighbouring Afghanistaninfo-icon.

After the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Pakistan had closed the Kharlachi  crossing point for bilateral trade some four months back.

Relevant departments are working out a comprehensive plan to provide all essential facilities, including healthcare, at the border crossing.

A senior army officer said formal trade had begun with Afghanistan through the Kharlachi crossing --- the closest point to Kabulinfo-icon.

Brig Najaf Abbas told reporters on Saturday that the authorities planned to set up warehouses and a terminal in the border area.

Necessary arrangements have been put in place by both sides to reopen the Angor Adda crossing on the Durand Lineinfo-icon.

Following a spate of calls, Torkham, Chaman and Ghulam Khan border crossings have already opened.
