154 new Covid-19 cases reported in Afghanistan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least154 new positive Covid-19 cases have been detected in different parts of the country over the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s overall tally to 34,605.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said 883 individuals underwent testing during the period and 154 of them were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Kabul recorded 78 new cases while Daikundi saw 26 more infections. At least 11 fresh cases were registered each in Badakhshan and Bamyan provinces.

Eight cases were detected in Takhar, four each in Kandahar and Paktia, three each in Baghlan and Parwan, two in Kapisa and one each in Nimroz, Helmand, Panjsher and Zabul.

At least 28 people lost their lives to the pandemic and 64 others recovered from it in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths thus reached 1038. As many as 21,280 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The Ministry of Public Health has called on the Afghan people to follow medical instructions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
