KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): After Kabul, Herat and Nangarhar provinces, the process of issuing computerized national identity card (CNIC) also kicked off in southeastern Khost province on Monday.

A CNIC distribution center was inaugurated here by the newly-appointed Governor Mohammad Sediq Patman.

Independent Directorate of Local Governments (IDLG) deputy head Mohammad Sarwar Jawadi, former Governor Halim Fidae and a number of local officials were present on the occasion, said the governor’s spokesman Talibinfo-icon Mangal.

Governor Patman said crime rate would also decrease with issuance of e-ID cards which would also help in terms of good governance and transparency.

He said 8,350 individually and 3,760 families’ forms had been distributed in Khost.

He called on Provincial Council members, religious scholars, tribal elders and youth to motivate people in urban areas and villages to apply for the CNIC.
