KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The European Union on Wednesday said it was in contact with India on the Afghan peace process and hoped "actual peace negotiations will start anytime soon."

Ahead of a summit with India, EU officials said they were in touch with New Delhi -- as with other key partners -- to make the talks happen in a constructive way.

“It includes Pakistaninfo-icon, which has to continue to make this successful,” the bloc added.

The officials explained they were close to the launch of Intra-Afghan negotiations, following the Doha pact between the US and the Talibaninfo-icon and the agreement between Washington and Kabul. "EU is fully supportive of peace efforts"

On May 29, EU adopted a concrete set of specific demands that calls for the Taliban to build "trust and confidence allowing the prompt start of intra-Afghan negotiations".

On the issue of terrorism, EU officials said: "No doubt on EU's stance on terrorism being victims of terrorism".

Indian and EU leaders are expected to reaffirm their strong stance against terrorism at the summit. Europol and CBI are negotiating a working arrangement to combat and prevent terrorism and organised crime.
