KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon have released 36 security personnel in different provinces, the movement’s political spokesman said on Wednesday.

Suhail Shaheen tweeted that 11 government prisoners were freed in Logar, Paktia and Paktika provinces as part of the US-Taliban agreement.

He wrote the militant movement had released 25 government forces two days ago in southern Kandahar province.

The Taliban have freed 700 government prisoners so far while the Ashraf Ghani administration has released 4,200 militants.

On February 29, the Taliban and the US inked a historic peace agreement, providing for the release of 5,000 rebel prisoners and, 1,000 Afghan security personnel.
