Balkh Zonal Hospital hit hard by corruption: Minister

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Acting Public Healthinfo-icon Minister Ahmad Jawad Usmani said corruption fully occupied the Zonal Hospital in northern Balkh province.

“I visited the depot of Balkh Zonal Hospital and asked the in-charge for registration book which was not existed, nobody know what is going out and coming in to the depot,” he said.

Despite the provision of health services, officials of the Zonal Hospital created decorative palaces for themselves.

Besides corruption allegations, Dr. Khalil Hikmati has been re-appointed as the head of Zonal Hospital.

Referring to Hikmati’s appointment, Usmani said: “He has been re-appointed as head of the Zonal Hospital in compliance to presidential decree and consultation with former Balkh governor Atta Mohammad Noor.”

Health minister asked people to adopt health measures even as the coronavirus cases were on the decline in the country.

Hikmati during his remarks pledged work in compliance with national health strategy of the Public Health Ministry

Afzal Hadid, head of the Balkh Provincial Council, said he was happy to see that disputes over Balkh health affairs have ended.
