Atmar, Kumar discuss ceasefire, Covid-19

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Haneef Atmar and Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar have discussed an extended ceasefire and the Covid-19 pandemic in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

“Atmar and Kumar reflected on the importance of the ceasefire between the Afghan government and the Talibaninfo-icon,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) tweeted.

It added: “Afghanistan will be helped in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador Kumar reiterated the Indian government’s continued commitment to Afghanistan.”

The ministry wrote, “Atmar expressed his appreciation for Indian support and reiterated the commitment of the Afghan government towards further expanding and strengthening bilateral relations...”

The two sides agreed that a reduction in violence and the further strengthening of regional and international consensus on the peace process was vital for its success, the ministry said.
