10 Taliban killed, 6 wounded in Ghazni clashes

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Ten Talibaninfo-icon militants have been killed and another six wounded in clashes with security forces in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Thursday.

Wahidullah Juma, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents stormed security check-posts in the Charli area of Gilan district late on Wednesday night.

He said six Taliban were killed and as many wounded in the firefight, he said, adding four more insurgents were also killed in a clash in the Darzao area of Ghazni City.

Maj. Aimal Khan, the 203rd Thunder Military Corps’ spokesman, also confirmed the Taliban casualties, saying ammunition and weapons belonging to the militants were destroyed.

He said the security forces and civilians suffered no causalities in the overnight clashes. The Taliban have not yet commented on the firefights and fatalities among the rebels.
